A volcanic rock rich in feldspar minerals is similar to basaltic rock, but its olivine content is relatively small.
Tephrite is a alkalic basaltic rock containing feldspar. It is not abbreviation for alkaline basalt. It is mainly composed of calcareous plagioclase, clinopyroxene and feldspar. This name comes from the Greek tephra, meaning gray.
